Ahead of her senior season, Washington Huskies outfielder Ava Carroll has been sizzling for the Madison Night Mares in the Northwoods League. On Sunday afternoon, the former Mt. Hood Community College transfer earned the league’s Player of the First Half after posting a .493 batting average and a 1.486 OPS through 37 hits, seven homers, 34 runs batted in, 43 runs scored, 18 walks, and nine stolen bases across 22 games. Her RBI total leads the league, and she sits second in batting average and fifth in home runs.
Those standout numbers also earned Carroll an invitation to the league’s inaugural all-star game, where she will share the field with three other Huskies: pitcher Ryan Maddox, infielder Marley Teasley, and catcher Ally Hetzel. Carroll and Teasley are slated to compete in the home run challenge as well.
Over her two years at Washington, Carroll has evolved into a central contributor for coach Heather Tarr, capable of thriving whether leading off or hitting in the heart of the order. In 109 games with the Huskies, she owns a .333 batting average and an .884 on-base plus slugging percentage, tallying 108 hits that include 19 doubles and 10 home runs, 58 RBIs, 70 runs scored, 32 walks, and 11 stolen bases. Defensively, she has been a steady presence in left field, recording only four errors in 165 chances for a .976 fielding percentage.
If Carroll can sustain the momentum she’s built in Wisconsin and translate it to Big Ten play, she could be instrumental in guiding the Huskies to a deeper run in the postseason and toward a potential Women’s College World Series appearance. This report originally appeared on Huskies Wire with an emphasis on optimizing search visibility for Washington softball, highlighting Carroll’s Northwoods League achievement as a standout element of her upcoming senior season.
