It has been a stellar summer for Washington Huskies pitcher Rylee Rehbein while playing for the 512s in the Lone Star State Collegiate League. The Montana transfer, who is originally from Battle Ground, Washington, was named the league’s Pitcher of the Year on Sunday.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementWhile statistics from Rehbein’s time in the summer league were unavailable, the honor is a great sign for her as she returns to Montlake for her senior year, where coach Heather Tarr is looking for several pitchers to step up in the rotation.Over her two years with the Huskies, Rehbein has put together a 3-3 record with a 4.42 ERA and a .287 batting average against. Across 30 appearances and 57 innings of work, she’s allowed 66 hits and a 52:27 strikeout-to-walk ratio, and should continue to be a strong relief option for the Huskies.Following the graduation of Sophia Ramuno, Rehbein, who has made seven starts over her UW career, could also be a candidate to step into the starting rotation, but that will be a tall task.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementTarr has several promising young pitchers who could make big contributions in the circle in 2027, including Amira Rodriguez, who was limited to just three games in 2026 before suffering a season-ending knee injury, while incoming freshman Carly Jones also has the potential to make an impact early in her career.”Carly’s ability to command the upper part of the strike zone with velocity is what immediately stands out,” Tarr said of Jones after she signed. “She’ll be just our second Husky to come from Idaho, following in the footsteps of Casey Stangel, and she brings with her the strength of a large, supportive family. We’re excited to see how high her ceiling can be as she begins her collegiate journey.”This article originally appeared on Huskies Wire: Washington softball pitcher wins Lone Star State League honors
