But it’s not exactly an important game for the team. The U.S. has already won Group D, which means the third game can effectively be used as a means to stay sharp rather than play for positioning.Even better, after Group B of this World Cup finished its final group games on Wednesday, the USMNT now knows who it will likely face in the Round of 32 next Wednesday in Santa Clara.With Bosnia and Herzegovina’s 3-1 win over Qatar, The Athletic projects that the USMNT has a 95 percent chance to play the third-place team from Group B. From there, the USMNT would probably not face real resistance until a potential matchup with Spain in the quarterfinals. But that would be counting your chickens before they hatch by several matches.For now, Türkiye and Bosnia and Herzegovina (likely) stand in the United States’ way in this World Cup.
