West Ham United have strengthened their forward line by signing England international Ebony Salmon on a two-year contract, following her departure from Aston Villa. The 25-year-old, who has earned four caps for England, made 75 appearances for Villa during her spell with the club before her contract expired at the end of the season.
Salmon began her football journey with Villa, advancing through the academy into the first team before moving to Manchester United in 2018. She later spent time on loan at Sheffield United and then moved on to Bristol City, with subsequent chapters in the United States at Racing Louisville and Houston Dash.
Expressing her excitement about the new challenge, Salmon said: “I’m really excited to join West Ham United and begin this next chapter of my career. After the conversations I had with Rita [Guarino] and others at the club, it just seemed like the right fit for me. I’m really looking forward to getting started, meeting all of my teammates and the fans, and helping West Ham push on this season.”
Salmon’s arrival boosts Guarino’s squad as the seventh summer signing, with West Ham aiming to climb higher in the Women’s Super League after finishing third from bottom in the standings last term. This move adds experience and international pedigree to a squad eager to push for improvements in the forthcoming campaign.
