The West Lyon Wildcats baseball team closed out the regular season with a 6-1 victory over Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley, continuing their magical run. In the bottom of the third, West Lyon threatened with the bases loaded, but a diving catch by Nighthawks left fielder Tyce Van Beek kept the scoreless frame. The visitors snagged a run in the top of the fourth on a two-out RBI single, but West Lyon answered with three runs in the bottom half, highlighted by River Kramer’s two RBI triple that proved to be the game-winner. As the top seed in their substate, the Wildcats earned a bye into the postseason’s next week and will host the winner of Friday’s Central Lyon vs. Spirit Lake game on Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m. for a decisive home matchup.
