​How has your Scottish Premiership club fared in the latest transfer window? Every side in the country has been able to strengthen the squad since 15 June. Some have been extremely busy, others not so much. We are, however, expecting a late flurry of activity given clubs in Scotland can still do business until 17:00 BST on Thursday – a couple of days after England, and other leagues, have decided to wrap things up. So where might we see some movement and which chairmen, chief executives and agents might be checking their phones nervously?Why is Scotland’s transfer window closing on Thursday?Will Celtic sign any defenders?After manager Martin O’Neill said he was content with his existing central defensive options – Cameron Carter-Vickers, Auston Trusty, Liam Scales and Dane Murray – it was widely assumed Celtic would strengthen in the full-back position. Especially with Canadian international Alastair Johnston ruled out until October at the earliest with injury. There’s also believed to be a strong desire to bring in a back-up to Kieran Tierney on the other flank, with Chelsea’s 18-year-old Landon Emenalo a contender after his apparent tour of the champions’ training ground at Lennoxtown the other week.The mood music was that the player was nursing a knock and that the move would go through once he’d had further treatment. One to watch then, possibly. Other names have been linked with the position, too, most notably Dundee United’s Will Ferry and Motherwell’s Emmanuel Longelo. Cover for Johnston is currently being provided by Colby Donovan, with Tony Ralston also on the books. The extent of the Canadian’s injury may determine how big a priority the club feels it is to bring in another right-back. Further up the pitch, Celtic look fairly well off, given the arrival of midfielder Oliver Sorensen and with Joel van den Berg also seeming to be on his way.
