What Pat Fitzgerald had to say following MSU’s loss to No. 9 UCLA

Michigan State football fell to No. 9 UCLA on Saturday afternoon, dropping their sixth consecutive game in the 2026 season. Now sitting at 2-6, with more injuries piling up, things are looking bleak for Michigan State in Pat Fitzgerald’s first season at the helm. After the game, Fitzgerald broke down what he saw in the matchup. Speaking on the injuries, the young guys playing, and falling short against the Bruins, Fitzgerald was very candid after the Spartans sixth consecutive loss.”It is not easy getting your first start against the No. 9 team in the country.””We got back onsides. That was a bunch of nonsense. But I have already donated enough money. I am not donating anymore.””This is what it is. This is football. It’s a full contact sport.””I’ve never seen so many injuries, and they’ve all happened in games. That’s what’s so crazy to me. If it was in practice, I could turn the dials up or down, left or right. When they happen in games, I don’t have a big solution for that besides ‘next guy up.'”Watch the full Fitzgerald press conference:Contact/Follow us @The SpartansWire on X (formerly Twitter) and like our page on Facebook to follow ongoing coverage of Michigan State news, notes and opinion.
