What you need to know as a Braves fan for the 2026 MLB Draft

We’re just a day away from Christmas in July as the MLB Draft and all the surrounding festivities kick off this weekend. A few changes have been made to the schedule and timing, so here’s a complete review of everything you need to know about the draft.
The draft spans two days. Rounds 1 through 4 will be held on Saturday, July 11, and rounds 5 through 20 will take place on Sunday, July 20.
Day 1 coverage begins at 1:00 PM ET on NBC and Peacock for picks 1 through 10 of the first round. After that, coverage shifts to MLB Network for picks 11 through 40, which covers the end of the first round, the Prospects Promotion Incentive (PPI) and the competitive balance round A. The action then moves again to MLB.com and MLB.tv for picks 41 through 135.
Day 2 coverage starts at 11:30 AM ET for rounds 5 through 20 and will be broadcast on MLB.com and MLB.tv.
If you’re visiting this site, you’re here for Braves coverage, so let’s zoom in on the Braves’ picks. The Braves earned a PPI pick because Drake Baldwin began the season on their roster and went on to win Rookie of the Year, which grants an additional selection ahead of the second round.
Round-by-round selections for the Braves are as follows:
– Round 1, pick 9
– PPI pick, 26
– Round 2, pick 84
– Round 3, pick 84
– Round 4, pick 112
– Round 5, pick 144
– Round 6, pick 173
– Round 7, pick 202
– Round 8, pick 232
– Round 9, pick 262
– Round 10, pick 292
– Round 11, pick 322
– Round 12, pick 353
– Round 13, pick 382
– Round 14, pick 412
– Round 15, pick 442
– Round 16, pick 472
– Round 17, pick 502
– Round 18, pick 532
– Round 19, pick 562
– Round 20, pick 592
Another consequence of Drake Baldwin’s Rookie of the Year award is that the Braves’ PPI pick adds value to their overall pool, bringing the Braves’ total draft pool to $15,870,800. The pool size matters because if a team surpasses it by as little as 5%, they would incur a 75% tax on the amount over the limit; penalties rise with larger overages. While penalties exist, they’re quite rare in practice.
For the Braves, those details translate into a strategic budgeting framework for their entire draft process, shaping how aggressively they might pursue top-tier talent and how they manage signing bonuses and pool allocation across the 20 rounds. As the draft unfolds with rounds across two days, fans will be watching not only for the selections themselves but also for how the Braves deploy their PPI pick and scale their picks across rounds to maximize value while staying within the enhanced draft pool.
