​LSU baseball’s transfer class is one of the best in the country. Per Baseball America, LSU’s portal class ranks No. 2 in the sport, only trailing Tennessee. Jay Johnson’s portal haul is headlined by former Notre Dame outfielder Bino Watters, who was first-team All-ACC and posted a 1.057 OPS in 2026. In summer league, Watters currently owns a .331 average and should bring the quality at-bats LSU struggled to find last year. Watters wasn’t LSU’s only elite outfield addition. The Tigers also signed Angel Laya and Jason Wachs, who should slide into the starting lineup. Wachs is expected to occupy centerfield. On the mound, LSU signed one of the top pitchers in the portal with the addition of Landon Hood. Hood was only a freshman in 2026, and the arm is electric. The Gonzaga transfer will likely be a high-leverage reliever in 2027 and have a chance to earn a starting rotation spot in 2028.
