Drew Kendall and Willie Lampkin, along with a position change for Fred Johnson, could’ve earned that LG starting job. But it went to someone else.According to Cameron Wolfe of NFL Network, the Eagles are naming Cam Jurgens, their normal starting center, as their new left guard. Taking Jurgens place at center is Kendall. It’s a bold change from the Eagles, but there is reason for the shuffle. Why Eagles are making Cam Jurgens, Drew Kendall OL changes”Eagles will move Cam Jurgens to guard and Drew Kendall to start at center today vs. Titans, sources tell @RapSheet and me,” Wolfe reports.Eagles will move Cam Jurgens to guard and Drew Kendall to start at center today vs. Titans, sources tell @RapSheet and me.More on OL change + Eagles prep for blazing Nashville heat: https://t.co/KRXmjh9baw— Cameron Wolfe (@CameronWolfe) September 20, 2026This is a major change for the Eagles offensive line. What makes it all the more fascinating is that this change comes in Week 2 of the NFL season. The Tennessee Titans aren’t going to be an easy matchup for the interior of the defensive line, with Jeffery Simmons and John Franklin-Myers on the other side of the ball for the Titans. But the Eagles clearly believe in Jurgens and Kendall as starters, as this change is an incredibly fascinating early-season switch.MORE: Carson Wentz changes Vikings quarterback conversation in stunning Week 1 winJurgens struggled last season as a starting center, and his Week 1 performance left a lot to be desired. While there’s upside with Jurgens, it might be at a guard spot long-term.Kendall should be okay at center, as there’s been plenty of optimism about Kendall from this preseason. Lampkin would’ve been a fun starter, but Kendall is likely a safer bet.One very interesting thing about this switch is what the Eagles will do once Dickerson is back and healthy. Will Jurgens move back to center and Dickerson to LG? Or will the Eagles keep Dickerson on the bench if Jurgens is thriving at that left guard spot? It’s a very fascinating situation that will only continue to develop as the regular season rolls along. For now, in Week 2, this is a major change Eagles fans should keep a close eye on. If the OL thrives, this combination might be what fans see for the bulk of the year.More NFL news:Why Cardinals could trade Jacoby Brissett during 2026 seasonHow Travis Hunter could win Comeback Player of the Year for Jaguars in 2026Raiders make fascinating $45M Michael Mayer decision amid Brock Bowers injuryPackers $92M contract extension with Tucker K
