First team players must wear numbers between 1 and 25, meaning Adeyemi’s preferred choice is not available.The numbers from 26 onwards are used by those not registered with the first team, such as Barca Atletic players, which explains why Roony Bardghji wore 28 at the start of last season and then switched to 19 after he was registered.According to Sport, Adeyemi liked the 27 because it’s a “a number that brings back good memories of his early years and that has accompanied him at different stages of his career.”However, the Germany star is now set for a new start at Barcelona and with it will come a new squad number.There are a few numbers available to Adeyemi at present: Marcus Rashford’s departure frees up the 14, the No. 9 is also free after Robert Lewandowski’s exit (but is likely being saved for Julian Alvarez), and the 12 is also available.
