The New York Knicks won Best Team at the ESPYS last night, yet the Hart of the squad couldn’t bask in the glory with his teammates. Josh Hart, who made countless hustle plays to help the Knicks win their first NBA title since 1973, was unable to attend the ceremony. With Hart absent, Jalen Brunson had jokes for his Roommates Show co-host. While accepting the award, a deadpan Brunson said, “We want to say thank you to the ESPYS for pulling Josh Hart’s invite.”AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementIt was a memorable moment amid an unforgettable night for Brunson. Along with the Knicks winning Best Team, the 29-year-old won Best Championship Performance, Best NBA Player and Best Athlete in men’s sports. Brunson’s teammate, OG Anunoby, won Best Play for his game-winning tip-in in Game 4 of the NBA Finals. It’s unclear where exactly Hart was during the ceremony, but apparently it had cell service as he was firing off World Cup takes earlier in the afternoon. Hart weighed in on the Lionel Messi vs. Cristiano Ronaldo debate and compared Argentina to the Knicks. The 2026 ESPYS were held at the Lincoln Center in New York City and hosted by Saturday Night Live’s Marcello Hernandez.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementThis article originally appeared on For The Win: Why wasn’t Josh Hart at the ESPYS?
