MADISON, Wis. – Wisconsin football is set to unveil a fresh look for its season opener against Notre Dame at Lambeau Field in 2026. The Badgers teamed up with Under Armour to release alternate uniforms on July 9 that honor the shared football heritage of the University of Wisconsin and the Green Bay Packers. The design centers on a bold red color scheme, featuring red helmets, red jerseys, and red pants accented with metallic silver numbering, lettering, and other details.
The metallic silver elements draw inspiration from the Packers’ Lombardi Trophy, a symbol of the franchise’s storied success. The uniforms incorporate a distinctive shoulder stripe pattern that combines the Packers’ familiar three-stripe motif with the Badgers’ two-stripe design, creating a unique hybrid look. A metallic Motion W logo appears on the upper arm of the jersey as well as on the red helmets, tying together Wisconsin’s identity with Green Bay’s storied brand.
To mark the 250th anniversary of the United States, the uniforms also feature a metallic version of the American flag, a nod UW highlighted in its social media posts. When the Badgers take the field on September 6 against Notre Dame, they will wear, for the first time, a jersey that includes a Culver’s logo patch as part of a recently announced sponsorship. The blue Culver’s emblem is placed in the corner below the Big Ten logo on the jersey sleeve.
UW framed the collection as a celebration of Wisconsin’s football tradition, noting, “From the hallowed grounds of Camp Randall to the legendary history of Lambeau Field, these uniforms represent the storied football history of the state of Wisconsin.” The partnership with Under Armour also aligns with Wisconsin’s broader NIL strategy, with analysts suggesting the collaboration could have meaningful implications for the program’s promotional and brand-building efforts.
Notre Dame, another school outfitted by Under Armour, will also sport alternate uniforms for the game at Lambeau. The Fighting Irish will wear blue uniforms described as a tribute to the deep blues worn by the historic Acme Packers of the 1920s. The design includes striping on the upper arms that subtly nods to the Packers’ iconic look, along with metallic gold accents and a similar American flag motif. The coordinated reveals underscore both programs’ desire to honor their regional football legacies while delivering visually striking game-day attire.
This season-opening matchup at Lambeau Field promises not only a head-to-head on the field but also a showcase of Wisconsin’s and Notre Dame’s evolving uniforms, underscoring the ongoing collaboration between collegiate programs and their athletic apparel partners. The unveiling angles toward maximizing national attention for the marquee non-conference game, blending traditional elements with contemporary branding as fans anticipate a memorable kickoff to the 2026 season.
