The midway point of the 2026 WNBA season is here, and Olivia Miles is not letting up as she closes out the first half.In the Minnesota Lynx’s 104-100 win against the Phoenix Mercury on Monday night, Miles delivered a historic performance. She finished with a career-high 33 points—the most by a rookie in franchise history—while adding three rebounds and eight assists and shooting 5-of-8 from 3-point range.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementWith her performance, Miles not only becomes the fastest rookie but also the fastest player in WNBA history to reach 400 points, 100 assists and 100 rebounds in just 22 games. Here’s what head coach Cheryl Reeve had to say about her star rookie:The success of the team is on her shoulders, and that is impressive how she’s handled it…I can’t say enough. Her impact on our team, just the magnitude of it, shouldn’t be understated.Miles ran into foul trouble after picking up her fifth foul and was forced to the bench. That came shortly after a 3-point surge early in a tightly-contested fourth quarter that put the Lynx back in front. Her ability to regroup, however, helped propel Minnesota to close out the victory.Speaking the WNBA Showtime panel after the game, Miles explained:I was telling Cheryl (Reeve), “Please trust me.” She was like, “No, go sit.” I gotta stay disciplined there, and adjust to how the refs are calling the game… I knew I was going to go back (in the game) sooner rather than later, so I had to stay in it and make sure my team got what they needed out of me.Miles wasn’t alone in this historic feat.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementHer teammate Kayla McBride led all scorers with 37 points, shooting 54.5 percent from 3-point range while adding six rebounds, four steals and a career-high two blocks.Together, Miles and McBride became the first duo in Lynx history to score 30-plus points in the same game. Their ability to make clean reads through traffic for easy baskets highlighted the chemistry and basketball IQ they share.McBride gushed about Miles after the game, sharing:I haven’t played with anybody like that in a long time…A PG that could really get to the paint and very diligent about finding me in spaces. And I think Liv (Miles) and I have kind of connected over the last couple of games in that space (finding each other in the paint). She knows how I want to be the best version of myself for her, and I want to continue to watch her just have as much fun as possible and enjoy this.Though Minnesota’s defense was inconsistent during stretches of the game, Miles credited the crowd for helping shift the atmosphere, noting:We know when the energy flips in our favor. Target Center shows up, and they give us obviously loud crowd pops and a lot of energy and momentum to help us get over that hump…Mac (McBride) and I– we’re just taking matters into our own hands because we knew we were feeling good. And our team allows us to do that.Miles is the team’s prima
