Exciting stuff happening in the World Cup. We have six teams that have clinched progression to the Round of 32, though there’s going to be a bunch of movements in the third place rankings that could have a ripple effect. Honestly, the decision to make head to head instead of goal differential the tiebreaker has ruined this round, so many dead rubber games.
Here’s your daily recap and upcoming matches for today.

Goals: Vargas (46′), Manzambi (57′) | P. David (76′)
With a win today over Switzerland Canada could’ve finished top of Group B and also clinched all their knock-out matches in Canada against inferior opposition. Instead, they fumbled the bag and now will face a much tougher opponent in Los Angeles.
Goals: Alajbegovic (29′), Abunada [OG] (34′), Mahmic (80′) | Al Haidos (42′)
Switzerland and Canada finished 1-2 but Bosnia is well placed to advance as a third place club, with four points. They’re fortunate Qatar is absolutely woeful this tournament.

Goals: Hakimi (39′), Saibari (45+1′), Rahimi (71′), Yassine (89′) | Bono [OG] (10′), Isidor (43′)
It’s really a shame that H2H tiebreakers eliminated Haiti from progression, because this game kinda ripped. Haiti scored their first two goals of the tournament and both were good goals. Morocco came back twice to equalize and ultimately pulled away but this was probably the most fun game of the day.
Goals: Vinicius Jr. (17′, 45+3′), Cunha (60′)
The Tartan Army ran into a Mexican buzzsaw, giving up a cheap early goal and not really ever finding their feet. Scotland now faces a nervy next few days as they wait to figure out whether they can sneak into the next round as a third placed group finisher.

Goals: M.Chavez (55′), Quinones (61′), Fidalgo (90+4′)
Czechia turned out to be one of the worse teams in this tournament, and proved it against Mexico. The Czech finish fourth in their group and will not advance; Mexico takes 9 points from a WC group stage for the first time in its history.
Goals: Maseko (63′)
Son Heung-Min was rested for this one, but came on at halftime with the match scoreless. It didn’t matter. South Africa came away with an improbable win that puts them, remarkably, 2nd in Group A behind Mexico. South Korea most likely will qualify as a third placed finisher, but the beeping you hear is an under-performing Korean team backing out of the group stage.
