Spain and Belgium meet in a decisive World Cup quarterfinal on Friday at the Los Angeles Stadium, each eager to secure a spot in the semifinals against France. Both teams remain unbeaten in the tournament so far. Spain, guided by Luis de la Fuente, arrives on the back of a convincing victory over Portugal, while Belgium, under Rudi Garcia, swept aside the United States 4-1 in their Round of 16 clash. Here are the starting lineups for the match.
For Spain, the only alteration from the prior game is Fabian Ruiz coming in to replace Pedri. The Spain starting XI is: Simon; Porro, Cubarsi, Laporte, Cucurella; Rodri, Ruiz; Yamal, Olmo, Baena; Oyarzabal.
Belgium, meanwhile, make two changes. Amadou Onana is out of the tournament due to injury sustained in the last match, with Youri Tielemans stepping back into a central role behind Kevin De Bruyne. The other modification sees Dodi Lukebakio replaced by Jeremy Doku in the starting lineup. Belgium’s starting XI is: Courtois; Castagne, Ngoy, Mechele, De Cuyper; Raskin, Onana; Lukebakio, Tielemans, Trossard; De Ketelaere.
Both sides come into the fixture with unbeaten records in this World Cup and long unbeaten runs in all competitions. However, Spain appear to hold the edge, having been the lone side in this edition to keep clean sheets in every match so far. Expect Spain to push for a 2-0 victory, with Lamine Yamal likely to find the net again.
