Following the season opener in Sacramento, the X Games League (XGL) rolled on to Chiba, Japan, for the second of three events in its debut summer campaign. After two days of intense competition at Makuhari Messe, XC Tokyo and XC New York found themselves tied at the top of the XGL standings with 1,770 points apiece, setting the stage for a high-stakes, winner-takes-all championship later this month in New Orleans. XC São Paulo remained within reach with 1,610 points, while XC Los Angeles sat just behind at 1,510, ensuring that all four teams remained mathematically alive in the chase for the inaugural X Games League crown.
At X Games Chiba, BMX street legend Garrett Reynolds earned a record-tying 18th career gold medal. In the women’s BMX park event, 16-year-old Miharu Ozawa continued her breakout run by defeating two-time champion Hannah Roberts for the second consecutive event, helping XC Tokyo to maintain its early lead. In the inaugural X Games League draft held in March, XC New York’s top selection, Chloe Covell, again demonstrated why she was viewed as the No. 1 pick by claiming victory in women’s skateboard street, while hometown favorite Mizuho Hasegawa thrilled Japanese fans by taking the women’s vert title. Juni Kang followed up Sacramento success with another men’s street Best Trick win, pulling off a sequence that included a switch heelflip backside tailslide to backside bigspin and a switch 180 crooked grind to nollie heelflip out.
Marcus Christopher delivered BMX park gold for XC Los Angeles. In another milestone moment, 11-year-old Ema Kawakami became the youngest male gold medalist in X Games history by ending Gui Khury’s four-event reign in men’s vert. Moto X veteran Rob Adelberg closed out opening day by claiming yet another Best Trick title.
Sunday saw XC New York steadily chip away at Tokyo’s lead, delivering podium finishes across multiple disciplines and tightening the overall standings. Spain celebrated a historic breakthrough as 15-year-old Egoitz Bijueska became the country’s first X Games skateboard gold medalist by winning men’s park. Mia Kretzer added another career milestone, taking the women’s vert Best Trick title at just 11 years old. The BMX park Best Trick contest continued to push technical boundaries, with Mike Varga landing the first 900 of the decade in competition, and Marcus Christopher pulling off the flair triple downside tailwhip he had attempted four times in Sacramento. Logan Martin earned another podium to strengthen both his individual and team standings.
Gui Khury maintained his dominance in vert Best Trick with a seventh consecutive victory in the discipline, while Momiji Nishiya rebounded from a disappointing street event by landing an X Games-first crooked grind nollie heelflip to win the women’s street Best Trick and provide a crucial boost for XC New York. Sky Brown captured the women’s skateboard park title at X Games Chiba 2026, a standout moment underscoring the ongoing evolution and depth of talent across the league.
