Missouri Tigers head coach Eli Drinkwitz talks to his team during a timeout during the first quarter of the TaxSlayer Gator Bowl at EverBank Stadium Saturday December 27, 2025 in Jacksonville, Fla. © Doug Engle/Florida Times-UnionThe Missouri Tigers got the better of their bitter rivals, Kansas, in a high-stakes contest in Lawrence, Kansas, and Missouri head coach Eli Drinkwitz did not miss a single opportunity to make that clear to Kansas and its fans. The jaw-jacking started well before the game, with a social media post from Kansas hyping it up and putting Kansas in a positive light against Missouri. After the game, Drinkwitz addressed the social media post in his press conference, before taking to social media himself to let Kansas know who was really the boss.“Man! Yall are weird….. Winners WIN!!! I know that’s RIGHT!!!!! #MIZ“, Drinkwitz wrote on X in response to a post from the University of Kansas. He referenced the controversial hype video in another tweet, rubbing salt in Kansas fans’ wounds after Missouri’s victory. What Irked Eli Drinkwitz About the Kansas Hype Video?Drinkwitz wasn’t pleased with the hype video before the game because he felt it detracted from a day that held different meaning for America on Sept. 11.“I was disappointed in the rivalry, the turn that it took today,” Drinkwitz said to the media after the game.“I thought that was uncalled for. This is about two teams playing football, and especially on 9/11, when we need more unity now than ever before, to be putting some stuff on your screen, celebrating — I mean, everybody’s got complicated pasts. To make that an icon was bizarre to me, and so I’m just glad that this whole right-versus-wrong… that was started just got settled on a football field, because it’s a football game.”A comprehensive 38-21 victory away from home was just the answer Drinkwitz and Missouri fans would have wanted in the light of the controversial post.Read More News:Trouble for Kentucky After Will Stein Denounces “Sloppy” Scrimmage as Weather Becomes Talking Point“Bye Brian Santiago”: Fans Convinced of Issues Between Kalani Sitake and BYU AD After HC’s “Doing Most With Least” CommentCollege Sports Network has you covered with the latest news, analysis, insights, and trending stories in tennis, college football, men’s college basketball, women’s college basketball, and college baseball!
