Through six career starts against the Red Sox, Schlittler now owns a 0.47 ERA and 11.41 strikeouts per nine innings. No other pitcher since ERA became an official statistic across both leagues in 1913 has matched those numbers through their first six starts against a single team.Schlittler has also found another level in the postseason against Boston. Both performances have come against Boston.With his latest effort, Schlittler is now tied with Orlando Hernandez, Bob Turley, Roger Clemens and Mike Mussina for the most 10+-strikeout games in Yankees postseason history, with both of his qualifying performances coming against the Red Sox.His dominance has extended beyond October. Schlittler emerged as one of the American League’s top pitchers during the regular season, posting a 1.95 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 4.9 strikeout-to-walk ratio across 33 games. Those numbers have put him firmly in the conversation for the American League Cy Young Award.The Yankees and Red Sox will meet again Wednesday for Game 2 of the Wild Card Series.
