“Yankees Can Offload Aaron Judge” – MLB Analyst Suggests Radical Change After Spencer Jones’ Heroics in Win vs Orioles

Spencer Jones – New York Yankees | © ImagnNational baseball columnist for New York Porch Sports, Luis Feld, shared his blunt take on Yankees star prospect Spencer Jones after the 25-year-old delivered a strong offensive night in the series finale against the Orioles in Baltimore on Thursday. Jones finished 3-for-4 with a solo home run.Jones started the game in right field, but his versatility allows him to play anywhere in the outfield. Given his recent performances on both sides of the game, Feld suggested that Jones had the potential to completely replace captain Aaron Judge, who is still out injured and will be turning 35 next year.“Spencer Jones negates the need for Aaron Judge. The Yankees can now bid farewell to this overpriced swing-and-miss, homer-or-bust experiment. In the offseason, the Yankees can offload Judge — potentially doing a deal for Jacob deGrom, or even a simple salary dump where they end up with an Andy Pages-type player. Building around Jones is the most important thing the organization can do. It’s clear he is the best prospect they have developed since Mattingly,” Feld wrote on X.Feld suggested a hypothetical scenario in which New York could offload Judge and instead acquire a reliable arm in the bullpen and another versatile player, such as the Dodgers’ Andy Pages, who could be a great addition to the team.Judge has been out of action since a rib injury on May 31 but has recently ramped up his rehab in hopes of a startling return to the active roster before the postseason. Saying that Jones can replace Judge effective immediately might be a stretch, but regardless, the Californian is projecting decent numbers for his rookie season.Spencer Jones Is Putting Together a Solid Rookie SeasonWhile the sample size is still small at 54 games, Jones has showcased his talents in both departments of the game. He currently has a .227 batting average, with six home runs, 19 RBIs, and a .712 OPS, which are fairly decent numbers for a rookie with such limited playing time in the big leagues. The Yankees selected Jones as the 25th overall pick in the 2022 MLB draft and signed him for a $2.88 million bonus. Jones climbed through the minor leagues over the past four years, finally earning a big-league call-up on May 8. After a lackluster first stint, he was sent down again, only to be called up once more on June 5 after Judge landed on the injured list. It’s safe to say the second stint has been better than the first, but the organization needs to give the outfielder more time to develop in the majors. Who knows, Feld’s suggestion that Jones might eventually replace captain Judge in CF could come true in the coming seasons. Also read:“Someone’s Lying”;”What’s Going ON?” – MLB Fans Baffled By Ketel Marte Situation After Diamondbacks President Demands Apologies“How Is This Even Legal?” – MLB Fans React To Angels’ Adam Frazier Making ‘Absurd’ Base-Running Move Vs AstrosCollege Sports Network has you cover
