​NEW YORK — The Yankees’ injury bug has bit them again.The latest victim is reliever Fernando Cruz, who was placed on the 15-day injured list Wednesday with right elbow discomfort.The Yankees made a flurry of roster moves ahead of Wednesday night’s game with the Houston Astros at Yankee Stadium.In addition to Cruz being shelved:– Free agent reliever Michael Fulmer was signed to a major-league contract and selected to the active roster, — Rookie right-hander Elmer Rodriguez was recalled from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to start Wednesday’s game.– Reliever Bradley Hammer was optioned to Triple-A after making three appearances over 15 days in his first big-league call-up.Cruz went on the IL one day after blowing a save opportunity when he allowed two sixth-inning runs in Tuesday night’s 9-7 loss to the Astros. The righty is 4-6 with a 3.13 ERA over 61 appearances this season, but has an 0-3 record and 5.93 ERA over his last 16 games since July 19.Fulmer, 33, was signed by the Yankees after being released two clubs earlier this month, first the Giants and then the Angels.The right-hander worked 3.2 scoreless innings over three outings with the Angels from Aug. 16 to Aug. 22. He also pitched to a 2.93 ERA in 38 Triple-A appearances, 37 with Sacramento and one with Salt Lake.Earlier in his career, Fulmer was a standout starting pitcher with the Tigers who was an All-Star in 2017.
