Yaxel Lendeborg voted as the Michigan player who will have the best NBA rookie season

By admin — In News — July 12, 2026

Earlier this week, we invited fans to vote on which Michigan player selected in the 2026 NBA Draft will enjoy the best rookie season. Forward Yaxel Lendeborg was chosen No. 11 overall by the Golden State Warriors. The results are in, and there’s a clear standout among the contenders. Lendeborg captured 76% of the vote, while fellow Michigan alum Johnson drew 18%, and Mara gathered 6%.
Lendeborg finds himself in a particularly intriguing position, slated to contribute significantly to a franchise that features future hall of famers in Stephen Curry, Draymond Green, and Jimmy Butler. As the Big Ten Player of the Year, Lendeborg has already made an impression during the NBA Summer League, showcasing skills that could translate well to the Warriors’ system and culture.
According to FanDuel Sportsbook, Golden State currently holds +4500 odds to win the NBA Finals next season, ranking 13th in the league. Those long odds suggest that Lendeborg’s path to collective team success may be challenging, but it could translate into a higher likelihood of earning the NBA Rookie of the Year award if he outperforms expectations and secures a meaningful role early in his NBA career.
For anyone curious about how you voted this week, head to the comments and share your thoughts. And be sure to return next week for another edition of SB Nation Reacts as we continue to follow the rookie season outcomes and fan reactions.
