67 days until Saints opener: Every player to wear the No. 67 jersey

We are 67 days away from the New Orleans Saints matching up for their regular-season opener. This year’s opener features a road trip to take on the Detroit Lions on Sunday, Sept. 13. Undrafted rookie defensive tackle Zxavian Harris has earned the No. 67 jersey for the Saints. Despite a productive college career, Harris went undrafted, and now he’ll aim to become the 11th player in Saints history to wear the 67. Our countdown to kickoff series continues with a look at everyone who has donned the number.
George Harvey is the first Saints player to wear 67 in franchise history. A sixth-round pick in the inaugural 1967 draft, Harvey wore the number for six games in the team’s first season. John Shinners followed two seasons later, joining the Saints as the 17th overall pick in the first round of the 1969 NFL Draft. Shinners didn’t live up to the expectations of a first-round selection; he remained with New Orleans for three years, appearing in 25 games with four starts.
Bob Kuziel claims the distinction of the shortest 67 stint in team history, seeing action in just one game during the 1972 season. Phil LaPorta, a ninth-round pick in the 1974 draft, stayed for two years and logged 20 games. John Watson then played five games in each of his three seasons, contributing at multiple spots along the offensive line.
Stan Brock, the franchise’s long-time stalwart at right tackle, wore 67 after being taken with the 12th overall pick in the 1980 NFL Draft. Brock quickly earned a starting job and developed into one of the Saints’ best tackles, lasting 186 games in the number 67 shirt—the most by any Saints player aside from Drew Brees to have appeared on offense. His impact was recognized in 1997 with induction into the Saints Hall of Fame.
Following Brock’s era, Andy McCollum carried 67 for 59 games across four seasons. He was followed by Jamar Nesbit, whose 84 games at guard rank second to Brock’s on the 67 jersey; Nesbit started 43 of those encounters. While neither McCollum nor Nesbit matched Brock’s longevity, both established themselves as dependable run blockers up front.
In 2020, Jacksonville’s NFC guard Larry Warford—who later joined New Orleans—took his turn with the Saints’ 67, a nod to the continued legacy of a number that has become part of the club’s fabric. As Harris steps into the lineage, the Saints’ 67 tradition remains a storied thread in franchise history.
