The No. 1 Miami Hurricanes are putting their undefeated season on the line Saturday when they travel to South Bend for a highly anticipated showdown against the No. 6 Notre Dame Fighting Irish.Miami (8-0) narrowly escaped an upset against North Carolina on Halloween, defeating the Tar Heels 38-35 behind another impressive performance from quarterback Darian Mensah. The junior threw for 274 yards and three touchdowns, bringing his season total to 2,425 passing yards, 25 touchdowns and just one interception (in case you were wondering how Miami is still undefeated).View this post on InstagramMensah has been one of college football’s most efficient quarterbacks this season, completing an impressive 80.7% of his passes. But, Miami will face one of their toughest challenges yet without star wide receiver Malachi Toney, who suffered a high ankle sprain during practice this week. Toney, who has 1,027 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns this season, is expected to miss several weeks following surgery, leaving Mensah without his leading target. On the other side of the field, Notre Dame (7-1) is looking to avenge last season’s 27-24 loss to Miami. The Fighting Irish are coming off a dominant 35-13 victory over Navy and will have home-field advantage as they look to hand the Hurricanes their first loss of the season.
