NEW ORLEANS ― The obvious move is obvious because it’s the move that makes the most sense for the situation. The obvious move for the Browns to make when they ruled out defensive tackle Maliek Collins for the Nov. 8 game at the New Orleans Saints with an elbow injury was to bring up defensive tackle Sam Kamara from the practice squad. The obvious move there, considering Kamara has already maxed out his elevations, was to sign him to the 53-man active roster. That’s exactly what the Browns did, announcing the move prior to departing for New Orleans on Nov. 7. Kamara’s agents, Zac Hiller and Matt Leist of LAA Sports, had announced the deal the previous afternoon.Subscribe to Browns Insider newsletter”Yeah, we’re just all going to have to step up and do more of our part,” defensive tackle Mason Graham said Nov. 6. “Sam’s going to be out there with us, so that’s going to be cool. We just got to play good and execute and it’ll be just fine.”Kamara had to be signed to the actual 53-man roster instead of just elevated for gameday because he had already used his allotted three Weeks 5-7 while Graham and/or Mike Hall Jr. were sidelined. The Browns seemed to hint the move was coming Nov. 5 when they waived tight end Carsen Ryan but made no other corresponding move.Ryan, the seventh-round rookie, was also signed to the practice squad. He will be elevated to the gameday roster against New Orleans.Kamara, the 6-foot, 272-pound fourth-year pro had 96 defensive snaps combined in his three previous games. That accounted for 50.5% of the Browns’ total defensive snaps for those contests.Kamara made at least some impact in all three games in which he’s appeared. He’s posted 10 combined tackles, three tackles for a loss, one quarterback hit and his first career sack, which came in the Week 5 loss to the New York Jets.”I feel like he’s just the same guy every day,” Graham said. “He prepares like he’s going to play every week, even though most of the time he knows he might not. So I feel that just comes with being a pro. I mean, I feel like he’s been in this organization for a while now, kind of knows the ins and outs. Just a real pro.”The bigger concern for the Browns long term is Collins’ health. Browns coach Todd Monken would only say, “I don’t know that. I don’t know yet. I just know it’s something that’s flared up.”Collins did leave the Browns’ Weel 8 loss at the Pittsbugh Steelers in the second quarter with the elbow injury, but returned early in the third quarter. He had four combined tackles and a tackle for loss against the Steelers.Collins and the Browns signed a new two-year, $30 million extension after the Week 7 win over the Tennessee Titans. He’s got 3.5 sacks, 21 combined tackles, seven tackles for loss and eight quarterback hits. The injury to Collins marks the third different defensive tackle the Browns have lost for at least one game this season. However, they’ve received strong performances in the absence of those players, including by Ka
