Alabama pitcher Myles Upchurch has been named First Team Freshman All-America, per Baseball America.
Upchurch played a pivotal role on the mound for the Tide this season. The star freshman ended the year with a 3.75 ERA across 72 total innings, and Upchurch has now been named First Team Freshman All-America as a result. The flamethrower recorded 78 strikeouts this season as well, as Upchurch will more than likely emerge as the Tide’s ace throughout his sophomore campaign next season.
Upchurch was originally selected in the 19th round of the 2025 MLB draft by the Cincinnati Reds prior to attending Alabama. The flamethrower was nothing short of dominant throughout his first season at the collegiate level, and Upchurch is expected to likely emerge as a top prospect in the 2028 MLB draft during his time in Tuscaloosa next year.
The sophomore could quickly begin playing at an even higher level in 2027, as Upchurch has officially been named as First Team Freshman All-America following his stellar campaign in 2026.
