According to a report, the Toronto Blue Jays are rewarding one of the hottest hitters in their farm system with a trip to the big leagues, and he is likely to make his MLB debut this weekend. After putting together an outstanding offensive campaign across Double-A and Triple-A, 23-year-old prospect Keys has officially earned his promotion, giving Toronto another intriguing young bat as the club continues to strengthen its lineup heading into the second half of the season. The call-up comes as little surprise considering the numbers he has produced over the past three seasons.

Selected in the fourth round of the 2024 MLB Draft, Keys made an immediate impression during his first taste of professional baseball. He appeared in 22 games at Single-A following the draft, logging 98 plate appearances while displaying an advanced approach at the plate. He posted a .293/.378/.451 slash line, good for a 134 wRC+, while striking out at a manageable 21.4% rate and drawing walks in 13.3% of his plate appearances.
That performance was only the beginning. In 2025, Keys spent the entire season at the High-A level and continued to establish himself as one of Toronto’s most promising offensive prospects. His power began to emerge in a big way as he launched 19 home runs, while maintaining excellent plate discipline with a 16.3% walk rate.
If there were any lingering questions about whether Keys was ready for the next step, he has answered them emphatically this season. He opened the year at Double-A before earning a promotion to Triple-A earlier this month, and his production has only continued to climb. Between the two levels, Keys has already blasted 21 home runs while producing an outstanding .284/.409/.619 slash line and a 164 wRC+.
Perhaps just as encouraging has been his mature approach at the plate. His 23.1% strikeout rate remains perfectly acceptable for a power hitter, while his impressive 13.6% walk rate demonstrates the patience that has become one of his trademarks throughout the minors.
Keys’ arrival could have an immediate ripple effect on the Blue Jays’ lineup construction. With the rookie expected to see regular at-bats, Toronto may shift George Springer back into the outfield after spending time as the designated hitter. That adjustment would allow manager John Schneider to maximize his offensive firepower by keeping Springer, Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Okamoto, and Keys in the lineup together on the same day.
It’s a move that gives the Blue Jays considerably more flexibility while adding another dangerous bat to an offense that continues to evolve. While there will undoubtedly be an adjustment period against major league pitching, Keys has done everything possible to earn this opportunity. His consistent production, growing power, and disciplined offensive approach suggest he has little left to prove in the minor leagues.
Now, the Blue Jays will find out whether one of their fastest-rising prospects can carry that success to baseball’s biggest stage.
