While speaking with reporters at the Manning Passing Academy on Friday, Ole Miss quarterback Trinidad Chambliss described what the game-day atmosphere will be like when facing Lane Kiffin and LSU in 2026. He said it should be “wilder and crazier than any other game we had last year,” noting rumors that law enforcement might even need a SWAT response. Chambliss added that Oxford will be electric and that the week should be a lot of fun.
The Week 3 matchup in Oxford pits the Rebels against the Tigers with conference and College Football Playoff stakes on the line. It will also be the first time Kiffin faces his former team since leaving Ole Miss in late 2025. Kiffin guided Ole Miss to new heights during his six-year tenure, delivering four double-digit win seasons and the program’s first appearance in the College Football Playoffs. Now at LSU, he has brought along offensive coordinator Charlie Weis, a core portion of the staff, and several players, including Princewill Umanmielen and TJ Dottery. Those Tigers, newly assembled, will confront their former colleagues and teammates this September.
Chambliss, however, stressed not letting the moment become overwhelming or treated like a Super Bowl. “Just make it a regular game,” he said. “I can’t let it get too big; it can’t be a playoff game. There are playoff implications, yes, but we’ve got to stay sharp and not get ahead of ourselves.”
