Nottingham Forest are targeting Curtis Jones to bolster their midfield, according to talkSPORT, as Vitor Pereira’s side look to reshuffle their options in the center of the park. Liverpool value the academy graduate at around £40m, and the Reds are aware of Forest’s interest. The pursuit follows Forest’s recent £116m windfall from Elliot Anderson’s record transfer to Manchester City, which has left a clear gap to fill in midfield. Jones is among the players Forest are weighing as a potential solution.
Jones is not short of suitors, with Inter Milan having twice tested Liverpool’s resolve, most recently offering £21.5m that was quickly dismissed. Liverpool are unwilling to accept a figure close to that, and whether Forest will go that far remains uncertain. If a deal does not materialize, Liverpool are prepared to keep Jones or let him run down his contract, though he has one year left, with no fresh terms yet on the table.
His situation reflects a frustrating period for the 22-year-old, who started only 18 of 34 league games last season under Arne Slot, often operating at right-back. He is eager to secure regular first-team football elsewhere this summer. Forest are exploring several options, including Tottenham’s Lucas Bergvall, who has asked to leave, with Chelsea and Aston Villa also showing interest in the Sweden midfielder. Davide Frattesi of Inter is another name on their radar.
Jones would leave behind a decorated record: since his 2019 debut, he has made 228 appearances, scored 22 goals, and won eight trophies, including the Champions League and two Premier League titles. As the sole Scouser in the squad, his departure would sting supporters, but a fresh start on his own terms now seems the most likely outcome.
