Liverpool look set to miss out on Yan Diomande, leaving them to search for a new right-wing option in their bid to replace Mohamed Salah. Salah’s expected departure, driven by hefty offers from the Saudi Pro League and the Turkish Super Lig and despite a year still left on his contract, has prompted the Reds to target a marquee successor. While Jeremie Frimpong and Victor Munoz can operate there, a high-profile signing remains a priority. Diomande had been the leading candidate, but his decision to join Paris Saint-Germain has forced Liverpool to widen their market search.
Bradley Barcola has emerged as the Reds’ preferred alternative, though he would not be a like-for-like replacement for Salah since he is naturally a left winger. He has nonetheless appeared on the right on occasion, and the fluidity of Luis Enrique’s frontline could allow him to adapt. However, BBC Sport reports a significant obstacle in Barcola’s pursuit: PSG are keen to extend his contract even if Diomande moves on.
Liverpool’s optimism is tempered by Paris Saint-Germain’ interest in keeping Barcola, especially after the club’s recent activity in the transfer market, including the acquisition of Spain winger Victor Munoz for £34.5m. With Diomande and Maghnes Akliouche potentially bound for PSG, Barcola’s situation remains precarious, complicating Liverpool’s plans to recruit a key understudy for Salah.
