Glassboro (NJ) receiver Xavier Sabb, a five-star target on the national stage, announced his commitment to Oregon on Friday during a live segment on the Rivals YouTube channel. The 6-foot, 195-pound playmaker had begun seriously weighing his options with programs such as LSU, Tennessee, Georgia, and UCLA among others in the mix. Rivals ranks Sabb as the No. 5 overall receiver and No. 32 nationally, placing him among the jewels of an Oregon class that sits in the top five nationally before his pledge.
Sabb visited Eugene multiple times during his recruitment, including an official visit the weekend of June 19. “What ultimately drove my decision is the relationship I’ve built with Coach Lanning,” Sabb said. “He’s recruited me since I was in the eighth grade and has always welcomed me and my family. The program’s pursuit of a National Championship aligns with my goals, and I’ve developed a strong relationship with Coach Ross (Douglas), trusting his vision for me as an Oregon Duck.” Other programs that offered Sabb included Alabama, Notre Dame, and Ohio State.
“My favorite thing about Oregon is the culture and family atmosphere,” Sabb said. “I love how the team supports one another, and I feel it will be a great fit for me both on and off the field.” Sabb is the reigning New Jersey Gatorade Player of the Year. As a junior, he posted 59 receptions for 897 yards and 13 touchdowns, added two rushing scores, and returned a kickoff and punt for touchdowns while helping his team win a state title. He also intercepted four passes on defense.
Rivals National Analyst Greg Biggins praised Sabb’s profile, highlighting his multi-sport background, two-way potential, and athletic traits. He noted Sabb’s dynamic playmaking ability after the catch, speed, and body control, along with his ability to stretch the field and win 50-50 balls. Biggins also pointed to Sabb’s return game value and natural ability to create yards after contact, describing him as a high-ceiling prospect with NFL upside.
