Experienced goalkeeper Sarah-Lisa Dübel has joined ÖFB-Frauen Bundesliga club SK Sturm Graz from SC Freiburg ahead of the 2026/27 season. Graz had already bolstered their ranks with Sara Pavlović, who arrived from ÖFB-Frauen Bundesliga champions Austria Wien. In addition to Pavlović and Dübel, the club have brought in young talent Johanna Riedler from LUV Graz, while their attack has been strengthened by the addition of prolific scorer Lillia Sopos.
Dübel moves to Graz from the German Bundesliga, where she previously played for SC Sand, Werder Bremen, and Altach. Speaking about her signing, Dübel emphasized that Graz is a club determined not to rest on last season’s third-place finish. “I am very excited about the new challenge at Sturm,” the 28-year-old said. “The club stands for ambitious football and clear development. I am convinced that this is the right step for me. I want to contribute my qualities, continuously develop myself, and achieve success together with this team.”
Sporting Director Michael Erlitz highlighted the belief that Dübel is among the best keepers available. “With Sarah-Lisa Dübel, we’re adding a goalkeeper who demonstrated years ago that she’s among the elite in the Austrian Women’s Bundesliga,” he stated. “I’m particularly pleased that she chose to join SK Sturm Graz after her time at SC Freiburg. Her quality, experience, and presence will provide our team with added stability and play a key role in our ongoing development,” Erlitz concluded.
Graz are set to begin the 2026/27 season in August with a home match against SCR Altach in the Frauen Bundesliga. The coming season promises heightened drama in Austria as new champions Austria Wien attempt to defend their first title, while ambitious clubs like Sturm Graz, Rapid Wien, and RB Salzburg invest heavily in their squads. Former powerhouse SKN St. Pölten is also aiming to reclaim their crown, setting the stage for a fiercely competitive campaign.
Further moves across the league have been highlighted in various leagues: West Ham have completed the signing of promising youngster Sienna Wareing, Ruby Seaby has joined Glasgow City in the SWPL, and LASK have made six new signings ahead of the 2026/27 season in the ÖFB-Frauen Bundesliga to strengthen their squad and improve SEO performance. The 2026/27 season in Austria’s top women’s league is shaping up to be one of the most intriguing yet, with new talents and established stars alike looking to leave their mark.
