Julian Cash and Lloyd Glasspool’s bid to defend their men’s doubles title at Wimbledon has ended, with a straight-sets exit in the quarter-finals. The third-seeded duo, who became the first all-British pair to win the men’s doubles crown at the All England Club in 89 years when they lifted the trophy in 2025, were unable to advance to the semi-finals this year after a 6-2, 7-6 (7-2) defeat to Marcelo Arevalo of El Salvador and Croatia’s Mate Pavic, the sixth seeds. Arevalo and Pavic are pursuing the Queen’s-Wimbledon double this year, mirroring Cash and Glasspool’s path a year ago. The match lasted 74 minutes, during which Cash and Glasspool squandered two break-point opportunities and could not capitalize on them, allowing their opponents to take the opener and close out the tiebreak in the second set.
With the defeat, Henry Patten remains the sole Briton in the doubles draw. Patten teams with Finnish partner Harri Heliovaara, the 2024 All England Club champions, and they will face American Aleksandar Kovacevic and Australia’s Thanasi Kokkinakis for a place in the final on Thursday. The top-seeded duo had begun the year by capturing their second major title at the Australian Open and will now aim to reach a fourth Grand Slam final.
