VI reports that NAC Breda have rejected two offers from Portsmouth for goalkeeper Daniel Bielica. Portsmouth are said to have not even received a formal response from NAC regarding the 27-year-old shot-stopper. Bielica, a former Gornik Zabrze keeper, is currently under contract with NAC only through 2027, so the club faces a risk if it continues to reject bids from Portsmouth without lining up a contract extension for the player. The second bid from Portsmouth was reportedly around €500,000, which NAC reportedly deemed too low.
As the transfer window rolls on, Portsmouth could discover that NAC becomes more willing to listen if it becomes clear that Bielica wants to depart and that Portsmouth is his preferred destination. It would seem plausible that Bielica would be receptive to a move to Portsmouth, especially given NAC’s relegation from the Eredivisie last season. Over the past two seasons, Bielica has been NAC’s number one goalkeeper, featuring 66 times for the club.
Portsmouth might present Bielica with an opportunity to earn more money and compete at a higher level than the Dutch second tier, making the potential move appealing on several fronts. At present, this transfer saga appears far from settled, with developments still possible as both clubs weigh their options and Bielica’s intentions become clearer.
