Jason Kelce shared a heartfelt moment with a young fan during the American Century Championship in Lake Tahoe this week. The former NFL star, now 38, invited 16-year-old Andrew Bogetti from Ripon, California, to join him for a swing at Edgewood Tahoe Resort and spent several minutes chatting with the aspiring golfer. Bogetti admitted to PEOPLE that he was “shaking a little” while spending time with Kelce at the celebrity golf tournament on Wednesday, July 8.
The interaction began when Bogetti approached Kelce with his clubs and asked if he could take a long drive with him. Kelce was more than willing to oblige. After Bogetti took his swing, he thanked Kelce for the invitation, telling him, “Hey, that was awesome. Thank you again.” Kelce replied with encouragement, wishing him “Best of luck, man” before asking about Bogetti’s golf ambitions. Bogetti explained that he hoped to improve and perhaps follow a similar path in the sport, making the moment even more meaningful for the growing golfer.
Bogetti told PEOPLE that the moment with Kelce was “awesome” and happened simply because Kelce was approachable and game for some fun. He said, “I brought my clubs… I just asked him to sign my sport card holder and I asked him for a long drive and he was down to do it.” Although Bogetti only had one swing, he had previously been watching Kelce practice on the course for a while, soaking in every detail of the professional’s swing and demeanor.
Reflecting on the experience, Bogetti said, “I had the nerves going, I was shaking a little,” and praised Kelce as “awesome.” He added that he has long admired Kelce, recalling how he used to watch him as a kid and how thrilling it was to see him win the Super Bowl. The moment clearly left a lasting impression on the young golfer who now has a memorable story to share about the day he spent on the course with a football star turned golf companion.
In addition to Kelce’s personal moment with Bogetti, the tournament drew attention for other news surrounding the Kelce family. Jason Kelce publicly commented on his brother Travis Kelce’s wedding to Taylor Swift, six days after the couple’s star-studded ceremony in New York City on July 3. According to reports from The New York Post, Jason described the wedding as “great” when asked by fans on the course, adding that it was a “good time.” He also candidly addressed a fan’s question about his beer consumption at the wedding, responding that he drank well over 15 beers.
Kylie Kelce was also in attendance at Edgewood Tahoe Resort on Thursday. She joined Jason on the course and took a moment to address fans, noting how “incredible” the wedding experience was. Kylie paused to share a selfie with a fan while at the event and also spent time with the couple’s youngest daughter, Finn, who accompanied them to the annual tournament. While Travis Kelce did not compete this year, his wife and father of four were present to support the event and enjoy the sunny Lake Tahoe setting. The three Kelces have continued to draw attention for their family appearances at the ACC, where the festive atmosphere blends celebrity sports with seasonally perfect lake views.
