There has already been a substantial splash of cash across Europe this summer, with several top clubs breaking their transfer records. We’ve put together the most expensive XI signed during this transfer window so far.
Goalkeeper: Ewen Jaouen – Newcastle (£24.2m). Newcastle have made Reims youngster Ewen Jaouen their first summer signing, agreeing a £24.2m deal for the promising goalkeeper. The 20-year-old enjoyed a breakout season with Reims in Ligue 2 last year, as the French side narrowly missed promotion.
Right-back: Marco Palestra – Chelsea (£47m). Chelsea have made Marco Palestra the first major signing of the Xabi Alonso era, sealing a £47m move for the full-back. The 21-year-old shone on loan at Cagliari last season, earning Serie A’s Best Defender for 2025/26 and his Italy debut.
Centre-back: Jeremy Jacquet – Liverpool (£55m). Liverpool completed the signing of Jeremy Jacquet in January, with the centre-back linking up with the Reds this summer. Jacquet arrives as a successor to Ibrahima Konaté, who left for Real Madrid.
Centre-back: Jan Paul van Hecke – Tottenham Hotspur (£52m). Few clubs have attacked the summer window as aggressively as Spurs, spending over £200m to date and twice breaking their transfer record. Jan Paul van Hecke has joined the club alongside ex-Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi in the capital.
Left-back: Marc Cucurella – Real Madrid (£47.5m). Marc Cucurella’s wish to return to Spain prompted Chelsea to cash in, with Real Madrid outmuscling Atletico Madrid and Barcelona to land the Spain international for £47.5m.
Midfield: Elliott Anderson – Manchester City (£116m). The priciest transfer so far this summer and the second-most expensive Premier League move of all time, Elliott Anderson has headed north to Manchester, becoming the most expensive English player in history.
Midfield: Sandro Tonali – Tottenham Hotspur (£100m). Spurs’ renewed ambition is on display as they smashed their transfer record to sign Sandro Tonali from Newcastle United. Regarded as one of the Premier League’s best box-to-box midfielders, this is a bold statement of intent from the club.
Midfield: Mateus Fernandes – Tottenham Hotspur (£85m). Fernandes has already become Tottenham’s record signing, with the club paying £85m to acquire him from relegated West Ham, outbidding several of Europe’s top sides in the process.
Right-wing: Ismael Saibari – Bayern Munich (£47m). Bayern were keen to move quickly for Ismael Saibari, capitalizing on the Moroccan’s standout World Cup form.
Left-wing: Anthony Gordon – Barcelona (£69m). Anthony Gordon will join Barcelona as part of a transformative window, reflecting the club’s intent to bolster the squad with high-potential talent and added attacking options.
