College football recruiting: Top 2027 commits in the Big 12

By admin — In News — July 10, 2026

The Big 12 can be chaotic on the gridiron, but there’s no doubt about the league’s top program on the recruiting trail. Texas Tech is recruiting like a blue-blood in the 2027 cycle, assembling a class that currently sits as the No. 9 national class, per the Rivals Industry Team Recruiting Rankings. They stand as the only Big 12 program with a top-30 class, a clear indicator of their momentum.
Rivals’ Industry Ranking, a weighted measure that pools data from major recruiting outlets, shows a majority of the top-ranked Big 12 commits staying with the Red Raiders. Only one top-100 prospect has committed to a different Big 12 program. Here are the conference’s leading commitments as of July 10, according to Rivals:
No. 1 nationally: Cedar Hill (Texas) offensive lineman Brewster. Committed since Oct. 4, 2025. Brewster, widely regarded as the nation’s top recruit, pledged early to coach Joey McGuire and Texas Tech during his junior year. He remains a major target for TTU heading into his senior season, though his recruitment isn’t over. LSU continues to push hard to flip him, gaining some momentum, and Rivals’ Sam Spiegelman has details on that development. Nevertheless, McGuire and his staff aren’t inclined to let him leave the state. Brewster’s father, Robert Brewster, told Rivals, “Right now we’re still committed to Tech. Our focus is on rehab, getting back, working out, and preparing for the season. That’s all we’re focused on right now.” All eyes will be on the Brewster camp this fall, but for now, he remains the crown jewel of Tech’s haul.
Rivals Industry Ranking: No. 14 nationally (No. 2 EDGE). School: St. Frances Academy (Md.). Committed Since: April 13. Sweeney exemplifies Texas Tech’s rising recruiting pull. The No. 1 recruit in Maryland chose the Big 12 program after a spring visit to Lubbock, despite significant interest from other powerhouse programs. “The people were real,” Sweeney told Rivals’ Chad Simmons. “The environment was different. After being there, I just knew they came up for me. The people, how real they are, and the feeling I had around them changed how I felt about Texas Tech. It showed me a lot.” He added, “It was just different down there. The weather, the people — everything. It is so much more than I ever expected. I can see myself fitting there. It felt like the one.” Sweeney transferred from Good Counsel (Md.) to St. Frances for his senior year, and he remains solid with the Red Raiders.
Rivals Industry Ranking: No. 53 nationally (No. 9 WR). School: Summer Creek (Texas). Committed Since: Nov. 20, 2025. Following Brewster, Easter Jr. emerged as one of the next big targets for Texas Tech as the fall cycle approached.
