​We’ve made it through another week, friends, and if you’re anything like me, you’re cooling off with your dog by your side while you settle in to your favorite TV show. I hope that’s exactly what you’re doing right now. In the meantime, I asked all of you to share your pick for the 2026 Big Ten football season. It’s clear Purdue isn’t expected to have an easy ride again this year. Yes, there has been a notable amount of roster turnover—some changes look promising, others raise questions, and there are still big, flashing uncertainties because we just don’t know enough about a few new faces yet. With no Purdue championship on the horizon, which team should we be watching? I gave you a list of options to choose from but also left room for an “other” pick, a flexible and always enticing option. “Other” could mean almost anything, even Purdue itself. So much to consider.
Now the results are in, and it’s time to see where your loyalties lie. The Ohio State Buckeyes garnered the largest share of the votes, capturing 52% of the total. I’ll admit I was pleasantly surprised to see a clear outright majority emerge in the poll. The Indiana Hoosiers came in a distant second with 23%, and yes, it’s still a surprising moment in our sports landscape—dogs and cats living together, as the old saying goes.
