For as long as Connecticut racing fans have waited for this weekend’s Lime Rock Park ARCA 100 in Lakeville, a collaborative effort has been underway to ensure the venue is ready. The NASCAR action runs Friday and Saturday, drawing thousands to Lime Rock Park for one of the state’s largest annual sporting events. To reach this point, numerous groups have spent months coordinating plans to guarantee everything goes smoothly this weekend.
The Connecticut Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection’s Division of Emergency Management and Homeland Security has joined Lime Rock Park staff, local emergency services, municipal officials, and several other state agencies in the lead-up to the event. A Friday release from the state emphasized that the spectacle could occur only because of the extensive planning and behind-the-scenes coordination that happens long before the green flag is waved.
The Connecticut State Police are working in tandem with local law enforcement partners, first responders, municipal leaders, venue staff, and NASCAR to be prepared for any scenario. “Large-scale events like NASCAR at Lime Rock Park demonstrate the importance of regional collaboration,” said Chris Bernier, DEMHS Region 5 coordinator. “Months of planning by state agencies, local governments, emergency responders, and private-sector partners ensure we are ready for a wide range of possibilities.” This effort is designed to provide attendees and competitors with a safe and enjoyable experience.
The event also highlights the strength of emergency management across the region, according to Bernier. Event planners say they are prepared for severe weather, extreme heat, traffic management, public safety, emergency medical services, fire response, and redundant communications systems. More than 100 emergency responders and public safety personnel will be on site to provide support throughout the event. Volunteers from the Connecticut Incident Management Team have been activated to assist with incident action planning, communications coordination, logistics, resource tracing, situational awareness, and public information.

The team collaborates with local, regional, and private-sector partners to expand accident management capabilities during large, planned events and emergencies. Jamie Kistner, Lime Rock Park’s chief marketing officer, noted that the venue has long been a magnet for motorsports enthusiasts for more than six decades and is ready to welcome fans once again. He added that hosting an event of this scale requires an extraordinary level of partnership and coordination to deliver a successful experience for everyone involved.
