Lille OSC have reportedly reached an agreement to sign Sevilla’s Tanguy Nianzou (24), according to Foot Mercato. Nianzou began his career with Paris Saint-Germain before moving to Bayern Munich in the summer of 2020 once his contract with PSG expired. His time in Germany, however, was plagued by injuries, limiting him to 28 appearances across all competitions and producing one goal and one assist. After two years with Bayern, he transferred to Sevilla, hoping to continue his development in Spain.
His spell in Spain did not unfold as smoothly as hoped. Persistent fitness problems prevented him from finding consistent form, and he failed to establish himself as a regular in the Sevilla lineup. Over four seasons with the Andalusian club, Nianzou made 62 appearances, reflecting a career hampered by injuries and intermittent playing time. Despite the challenges, the defender remains highly regarded for his potential and versatility, and he remains determined to recapture his best level.
Now, the centre-back is poised for a return to France. Lille have reportedly struck an agreement with Sevilla to acquire his services, a move that could prove financially advantageous for the Spanish side as they seek to reduce their wage bill amid ongoing financial constraints. The exact transfer fee has not been disclosed, but the deal appears to be structured to benefit both clubs in the short term.
Nianzou is prepared to undergo a medical with Lille in the coming days. If he passes the medical examination, he is expected to sign his contract with Les Dogues and be officially announced as a Lille player next week. The transfer would add experience and defensive versatility to Lille’s squad, potentially providing cover and competition for the first-choice centre-backs.
