The Las Vegas Raiders are entering a new chapter with head coach Klint Kubiak, who arrives after helping the Seattle Seahawks win Super Bowl LX as their offensive coordinator. Now, he aims to translate that success to the Silver and Black. Since 2021, the Raiders have cycled through a string of head coaches — Jon Gruden, Josh McDaniels, Antonio Pierce, and Pete Carroll — and Las Vegas is likely hoping Kubiak can provide the stability the franchise has been seeking after a period of turnover. As training camp nears, Kubiak is busily laying the groundwork for what many fans and observers hope will become a lengthy tenure atop the Raiders’ sideline.
Former Raiders running back Marcus Allen weighed in on the rookie head coach’s approach, emphasizing stability as the first priority. Appearing on NFL Network on July 10, Allen said, “I think the first thing is stability. That’s what’s really important. We’d like to get off to a great start, and I think we did that in the draft. At this point, it’s just about building momentum. I think he’s the perfect guy for the job. He relates well, sets clear expectations, and wants everybody to buy in. He wants everybody to be committed. As much as I hate to say it, success would be having a coach there for more than one or two years. I think Klint is going to do an outstanding job.”
Allen also believes the Raiders have positioned Kubiak for success with their offseason moves, including free agency and the draft. He said, “I think, via the draft and free agency, we’re going to start bringing in some really good pieces and really make this a great team, not just one or two individuals, but a great team. It’s going to take a little time, but I think the Raiders are headed in the right direction.” While some questions at certain positions remain, this marks Year 1 of a longer rebuild, and the Silver and Black are hopeful that the offseason investments will translate into a competitive product on the field this season. A playoff berth might be a stretch, but the franchise is optimistic that Kubiak’s leadership can guide them to meaningful progress and sustained competitiveness.
Allen isn’t alone in offering his perspective as the season approaches. On June 24, former Raiders wide receiver Tim Brown shared his candid assessment of the team’s offseason during an appearance on The Jim Rome Show, discussing training camp and the upcoming preseason. Brown expressed optimism, saying, “I think they have a really good chance. I think they had the best offseason,” adding that the defensive line and offensive line acquisitions were solid pieces that could help the team win games in crucial moments. Brown even joked with the longtime Raiders GM, telling him, “Man, this is the best offseason since y’all drafted me back in the day,” underscoring his belief that the new pieces could contribute meaningfully to the club’s success.
As the Raiders navigate this transition, the overarching objective will be to establish a durable culture and a long-term framework under Kubiak’s leadership. The focus is on building stability, adding complementary talent through free agency and the draft, and cultivating a team-first mentality that can sustain success beyond a single season. If Kubiak can translate the early momentum from the draft and offseason moves into consistent on-field performance, Las Vegas may well realize the potential envisioned by its supporters as it sets out to make a more competitive run in the upcoming campaign.
