Brewers place pitcher Kyle Harrison on injured list with forearm tightness and call up Robert Gasser

Pittsburgh, AP — Milwaukee Brewers left-handed pitcher Kyle Harrison has been placed on the 15-day injured list due to tightness in his throwing forearm. The team announced the move ahead of Saturday’s doubleheader against the Pittsburgh Pirates, and in a corresponding move recalled left-hander Robert Gasser from Triple-A Nashville. The IL designation is retroactive to Thursday.
Harrison had told reporters that he was dealing with elbow soreness after lasting four innings and suffering the loss in a 5-1 defeat to St. Louis on Wednesday. Despite this setback, Harrison has been enjoying a breakout campaign in his first season with the Brewers. He has struggled a bit of late, giving up six earned runs over 6 2/3 innings across his two most recent starts.
Overall this season, Harrison boasts an impressive stat line, owning an 8-2 record with a 3.01 ERA and 101 strikeouts over 83 2/3 innings pitched. The Brewers acquired Harrison as part of a February trade with the Boston Red Sox, hoping his arrival would bolster their rotation.
Robert Gasser, who will take Harrison’s spot on the roster in the short term, has appeared in eight games (eight starts) for Milwaukee this year, recording a 2-3 record with a 4.15 ERA. His recall comes as Milwaukee navigates the innings and looks for stability in the rotation amid Harrison’s injury and the club’s ongoing schedule.
