Washington football hoping to add elite 2027 CB on Saturday

By admin — In News — July 11, 2026

Saturday, July 11 looms large for Jedd Fisch and the Washington Huskies as they push to finalize their 2027 recruiting class. The day marks a pair of crucial announcements, headlined by four-star offensive lineman DaJohn Yarborough, who is set to reveal his commitment. Simultaneously, another four-star talent, cornerback Censere Gaylord, will disclose his choice from a final trio consisting of Georgia, Georgia Tech, and Washington.
Gaylord, a 6-foot, 170-pound product of IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida, is ranked as the 112th-best prospect and the 13th-best cornerback in the 2027 class by 247Sports. He has already taken official visits to each of the three programs involved in his decision. His first stop was to Georgia Tech on May 29, followed by a trip to Seattle on June 5, and a final visit to Georgia on June 12. Although he did not secure the last visit during the live period, a privilege that went to Georgia head coach Kirby Smart, Washington secondary coach John Richardson, and the Huskies remain the favorites to land his services.
In mid-June, Washington received several predictions from prominent national recruiting analysts at 247Sports and Rivals indicating Gaylord would commit to the Huskies. His addition would provide a versatile weapon for defensive coordinator Ryan Walters’ scheme on the back end. Inside 247Sports’ scouting notes, analyst Andrew Ivins highlighted Gaylord’s ability to mirror from both press-man and off-man alignments, noting his smooth transitional movements and his capacity to locate the football quickly in the deeper third of the field. Ivins also pointed out Gaylord’s confidence in run support and his willingness to deliver a sweeping tackle on the perimeter. Beyond his on-field prowess, Ivins noted his production on Fridays, mentioning seven interceptions across the last 16 games, and his track record of testing elite pass catchers in offseason one-on-one sessions.
If Gaylord were to choose the Huskies, he would become the fourth defensive back to join the 2027 class. He would join four-star safeties Jaden Walk-Green and Isala Aisa Wily-Ava, as well as three-star cornerback Maurice Williams, continuing Washington’s momentum in the secondary.
