Kansas Volleyball Returning To Allen Fieldhouse For Two Big 12 Matchups

By admin — In News — July 11, 2026

Kansas volleyball will return to one of college sports’ most storied venues this fall, as the Jayhawks prepare to play in Allen Fieldhouse for two Big 12 showdowns. The program announced on Thursday that Kansas will host Arizona State on October 18 and in-state rival Kansas State on October 30 at Allen Fieldhouse, marking only the second time since 2013 that Kansas volleyball has staged home matches in the historic arena.
Head coach Matt Ulmer expressed enthusiasm for the opportunity, saying, “Being able to play two great opponents in Allen is something we’re extremely excited and thankful for. This is a great chance for more Jayhawk fans to watch their team live at home. We hope that students and the community will help make these two matches some of the best volleyball experiences in the country.” While Horejsi Family Volleyball Arena has been the Jayhawks’ primary home since 1999 and underwent major renovations in 2019, Allen Fieldhouse remains a significant chapter in Kansas volleyball history. Kansas played at Allen from 1975 to 1998 before moving to Horejsi, and the program has returned to Allen only rarely since then. One notable instance came during the 2013 NCAA Tournament, when Kansas defeated Wichita State and Creighton to reach the regional semifinals.
Last season, the Jayhawks drew 7,550 fans for their match against Kansas State at Allen Fieldhouse, the largest attendance for a Kansas volleyball match since the 2012 NCAA Tournament. This year’s return to Allen gives fans another chance to experience volleyball in a venue renowned for its basketball legacy, while setting the stage for two high-profile conference clashes that should spark an electric atmosphere.
The schedule begins with the October 18 matchup against Arizona State at Allen Fieldhouse, followed by the in-state showdown against Kansas State less than two weeks later. Those games are expected to be among the season’s marquee home events and could help amplify the program’s profile across the conference and the broader college volleyball landscape.
Ticket information for both Allen Fieldhouse matches will be released later, and season tickets for the 2026 volleyball season are already on sale. Fans are encouraged to stay tuned for updates and to prepare for what promises to be memorable nights in a historic setting.
