Hunter Lawrence surged ahead of Jett Lawrence with four minutes to go at the Southwick National at The Wick 338, flipping the script from Moto 1 at RedBud when Hunter went down on the final lap, handing the moto win to Jett. Nevertheless, Jett put aside last weekend’s frustration to lead from gate drop to checkered flag in Moto 1 at Southwick, The Wick 388.
Jett established a three-second cushion in the early stages, but Hunter began eroding that advantage, appearing to ride with a patient, measured pace that suggested he was saving energy for a late push. At RedBud, Hunter had pressured Jett throughout, and in Moto 2 the elder Lawrence had nothing left to offer as Jett cruised to victory.
Haiden Deegan spent the entire Moto 1 in third, staying within sight of Hunter for most of the race. When Jett crashed, a fresh challenger emerged on the scene, but Jett recovered quickly and still managed to outpace the rookie by more than 14 seconds to take the win.
Meanwhile, Jorge Prado has been enjoying a standout season. After relinquishing a position in the second half to Lucas Coenen, Prado regained the spot when Coenen crashed with three minutes remaining. Garrett Marchbanks rounded out the top five. Coenen produced the day’s highlight reel moment, flashing speed in qualifying as the fastest qualifier only to crash in Turn 1. He fought his way forward, climbing into the top 20 by the end of Lap 1, passing Cooper Webb for 10th on Lap 3 and Dylan Ferrandis on Lap 7.
Coenen’s fortunes took another hit when his bike lost power mid-jump on Lap 13, resulting in a hard crash as he was running fourth. He recovered to give a thumbs-up from the side of the track, appearing dazed but staying engaged in the race. In another notable storyline, Cornelius Tøndel earned his first top-10 finish of the season in ninth, stepping in for Chase Sexton aboard the Factory Kawasaki. It was a performance that underscored Tøndel’s potential as he continues to adapt to the pressure of racing at this level.
As the Southwick weekend unfolded, the action remained high-octane from start to finish, with multiple storylines shaping the overall results and setting the stage for the next round. The day’s events provided drama, resilience, and notable performances across the field, from the moment Jett asserted early control to Hunter’s strategic late surge, with Coenen’s dramatic charge and Prado’s steady ascent punctuating the evolving narrative of the season.
