With the bulk of Clemson football’s recruiting work behind them, the Tigers have shifted from assembling their class to putting the final touches on it. Dabo Swinney’s staff has already secured 24 commitments, including an impressive run of 17 pledges since May, leaving only a small slate of priority targets on the board. That group has Clemson sitting No. 14 in ESPN’s latest team recruiting rankings, with eight current commits earning spots in the outlet’s SC Next 300.
The class has been built with balance in mind. On offense, four-star quarterback Kharim Hughley gives Clemson a talented signal caller capable of making plays from the pocket or on the move. The Tigers also landed explosive skill talent in running back Gary Walker and wide receivers Jamarin Simmons and Trey Wimbley, while offensive tackle J.J. Brown adds another long-term piece to the offensive line.
Defensively, the class is loaded with star power as well. Four-star defensive end Desmond Malpress headlines the group alongside linebacker Bryce Kish and defensive tackle Luke Starcevic, delivering Clemson several lengthy, athletic defenders who fit the program’s preference for versatile front-seven talent.
There remains an opportunity for the class to climb higher before signing day. In-state defensive tackle Seth Tillman is expected to announce his decision Saturday, and Clemson is among the finalists. If the Tigers land him, they would add another ESPN SC Next 300 prospect to an already strong group. Safety Seth Williams is another name to watch. The four-star recruit delayed his commitment last month and is still weighing Clemson against Georgia.
Although Texas A&M remains atop ESPN’s rankings, Clemson’s class is largely in place and has positioned itself among the nation’s best groups heading into the final months of the recruiting cycle.
