St. Louis Cardinals select UCF OF Andrew Williamson in 2026 MLB Draft

By admin — In News — July 11, 2026

Happy 21st birthday indeed. Andrew Williamson now has even more to celebrate. The UCF outfielder received the call of his baseball dreams on July 11, when the St. Louis Cardinals selected him in Competitive Balance Round B of the 2026 MLB Draft, at pick number 68.
The junior capped his college career with All-Big 12 second-team honors in the spring. His final season numbers featured a .322 batting average, 16 home runs, and 48 RBIs across 55 games. Williamson helped the Knights reach two NCAA Tournament appearances in three seasons, and he earned all-tournament recognition in this year’s Auburn Regional. In that event, he became just the eighth player in program history to slug three home runs in a single game, accomplishing the feat against North Carolina State.
During a March 24, 2026 matchup at Melching Field against Stetson, Williamson delivered a solid showing for UCF, continuing to showcase the versatility that makes him appealing to major-league clubs. He completed his Orlando tenure with 34 career homers, placing him eighth on the Knights’ all-time leaderboard, and he posted a .590 career slugging percentage, which ranks fifth in school history.
Over the past two seasons, the left-handed hitter played almost exclusively in right field, yet as a freshman he served as the Knights’ primary center fielder. That early experience provided his new professional organization with adaptable defensive options. Williamson stands 6 feet tall and weighs 195 pounds, a build that carries a balance of power and athleticism suited to his pro potential.
