Rockies select Logan Reddemann with the 38th overall pick in the 2026 MLB Draft

The Colorado Rockies selected Logan Reddemann, a right-handed pitcher from UCLA, with the 38th overall pick in the 2026 MLB Draft on Saturday. The club kicked off draft day by taking Kentucky shortstop Tyler Bell with the 10th overall pick, and then added catcher Daniel Jackson at No. 37 in Competitive Balance Round A. Reddemann is the first pitcher the Rockies have added to their draft class since Paul DePodesta became president of baseball operations and Josh Byrnes took over as general manager.
The 38th pick carries a slot value of $2,633,100. Reddemann is a 21-year-old, 6-foot-2, 200-pound right-hander who transferred to UCLA after spending his first two college seasons at the University of San Diego. His arsenal starts with a high-velocity fastball, but his appeal goes beyond pure velocity. He also throws a solid changeup and has continued developing a cutter that he is comfortable using against both right-handed and left-handed hitters. Reddemann’s pitch mix is backed by a refined sense of sequencing. He can vary speeds and shapes rather than leaning on the fastball until hitters adjust, giving him a real chance to stay in the starting rotation.
MLB Pipeline grades Reddemann’s fastball at 60, with a 55 grade for his cutter and changeup, and a 60 grade for control. His slider sits at 50, his curveball at 45, and his overall grade is 50. Reddemann also presents as an athletic starter on the mound, delivering from a balanced delivery, moving well down the slope, and releasing the ball from a high, nearly over-the-top slot. His quick arm action helps the fastball get on hitters, while the athleticism in his delivery supports the command and feel that stand out across his profile. Although there is intent behind the motion, it remains compact and repeatable. Reddemann also carries a competitive, aggressive presence on the mound, attacking hitters with conviction rather than pitching tentatively around the strike zone.
Reddemann broke out after transferring to UCLA, going 8-0 with a 2.87 ERA across 10 starts in 2026. In 59.2 innings, he struck out 84 hitters while walking only 11, posting a 12.7 K/9, 1.7 BB/9, and a 7.64 strikeout-to-walk ratio. Across three college seasons, Reddemann finished with a 3.16 ERA, 228 strikeouts, and 45 walks in 213 1/3 innings. The mix of velocity, strike-throwing ability, athleticism, and multiple usable pitches gives the Rockies more than a polished college arm. Reddemann possesses present stuff and room for development, offering real upside as a potential contributor in the rotation.
Colorado has now opened the draft with a switch-hitting shortstop, a catcher, and a right-handed starter. The Rockies’ next selections come at No. 76 in the third round, followed by another pick at No. 104 before the end of Day 1.
