The Wolverines have added another offensive lineman to their 2027 class as four-star tackle Lincoln Mageo announced his commitment to Michigan on Saturday. He selected the Wolverines over his two other finalists, Washington and Utah. The 6-foot-3.5, 285-pound blocker hails from Oceanside, California, and Michigan had offered him when the previous coaching staff was in place last year. With Jim Harding now guiding the offensive line, Mageo’s recruitment was revived for Michigan, quickly making them a compelling option for the top prospect.
Mageo first visited Ann Arbor in April, spending three days on campus, and he returned for his official visit the weekend of June 5. Harding also conducted an in-home visit with Mageo and his family shortly after a pair of Utah linemen—Spencer Fano and Caleb Lomu—were selected in the first round of the NFL Draft. “We sat around, ate dinner and just talked about his move to Michigan and how spring ball went, and he was asking what I was looking for in a program so he could make sure he had everything lined up for my OV,” Mageo told On3’s Ethan McDowell. “We talked about the development of Spencer and Caleb from when they came in out of high school. It was cool to hear what he noticed in them and what made them stand out from the other guys.”
Scouting insights from 247Sports’ Gabe Brooks earlier this month described Mageo as a densely built high school tackle who projects as a Power 4 interior offensive lineman. Brooks noted Mageo’s strength as a drive blocker in the run game, along with heavy-handed pop, particularly when traveling and aiding in pass protection. Mageo also brings valuable multi-sport experience, including respectable shot-put numbers, and his field demeanor aligns with a physical, assertive playing style. While his bend and body control are still developing, improving fluidity through the lower half could elevate his pass-protection ceiling. The scouting assessment concluded Mageo projects at the Power 4 level, with the potential to develop into a run-game enforcer.
With Mageo’s addition, Michigan’s 2027 class now includes four offensive linemen: four-star Jakari Lipsey, along with three-stars Louis Esposito and Sidney Rouleau. That trio joins Mageo to push Michigan’s total commitments in the cycle to 22. In the Rivals Industry Ranking, Mageo sits at No. 409 nationally in the 2027 class.
