LAS VEGAS — Dominick Barlow emerged as one of the bright spots for the Philadelphia 76ers during the 2025-26 season. After signing a two-way contract in the 2025 offseason, Barlow posted solid numbers across 71 games, starting 59 of them, and averaging 7.7 points and 4.8 rebounds while shooting 53.6 percent from the floor. His performance earned him a standard contract, and the Sixers exercised his team option for the 2026-27 season to retain his services.
Barlow’s impact went beyond the box scores. He contributed with aggressive rebounding, strong basketball IQ, and defensive acumen, making him a valuable contributor for Philadelphia all season long. Yet, he acknowledges there is room for improvement, particularly in his shooting. He logged just 1.2 three-point attempts per game and connected on only 25.6 percent of those attempts, numbers he recognizes must rise if the Sixers are to maximize their offensive potential.
“Shooting the ball,” Barlow said succinctly while with the summer league team in Las Vegas, “I’ve been shooting the ball really well this summer. The elbow’s healed. I took time after the season and really did treatment, got full range back. It’s like 100 percent now, and yeah, just work on my body.” As the Sixers move through this offseason and ready themselves for the 2026-27 campaign, Barlow is confident the opportunities will be there. Philadelphia features a mix of offensive firepower that demands defensive attention, with players like Tyrese Maxey, VJ Edgecombe, Jaylen Brown, and Joel Embiid ensuring that the attention won’t be solely on him.
“I’ve been in the weight room a lot,” Barlow added. “Just trying to get bigger, stronger, help our team defensively, and space. I know we have a lot of rim pressure, especially with Jaylen coming over. So, the shots are gonna be there. We got to make them.”
As the Sixers look to build on last season’s momentum, Barlow’s development remains a focal point. His combination of versatility, effort, and a willingness to grow could make him an even bigger factor in Philadelphia’s plans moving forward, provided he can translate increased practice focus into more reliable outside shooting and continued defensive impact.
